Pastor Dale Raatz was installed as St. Mark’s Synodically Authorized Minister (SAM) September 1st. Thank you to Rev. Peter Schmidt (representing the EaND Synod) for being with us to do the installation and being a part of our worship.
We are very happy that Pastor Dale will be with us until mid 2020! And, we are looking forward to continuing the mission of St. Mark’s with him by our side.
St. Mark’s 2019-2020 Council Members were installed during worship on August 11th. Thank you to all of you for your leadership and your willingness to serve!
On July 28th, following worship, we honored Pastor Dale with a special graduation reception. He recently graduated from Luther Seminary. It was a fun time. Several people shared some memories and stories about working with Dale. His family was there to share in the celebration. And, there was cake!
St. Mark’s is helping out with St. Joseph’s Social Care’s Summer in the Park program. We are packing the food bags that will be sent home with children for their weekend meals.
Our first packing was May 28th, and we had a wonderful turn out – and packed a lot of meals. This is one of our favorite projects throughout the year.
Thank you to all our congregation members, volunteers from the Target store and those from our Scout Troop 130. You are all amazing!
These quilts displayed in our sanctuary this week were made by our group of quilters who meet here Wednesday mornings. These quilts are available for sale. Proceeds are used to purchase supplies to make more quilts that are given to various agencies locally and abroad, people in need, shut-ins, etc.
One of the annual events we look forward to here at St. Mark’s, is the WELCA spring Mother-Daughter-Sister-Friend brunch. Thank you to the WELCA ladies for another wonderful morning of food, fellowship and entertainment. The decor theme this year was birds and bird houses. We have posted some pictures of the event and tried to capture some of the mother/daughter/granddaughter/great granddaughter groups. It was a very special time.
Our high school graduating senior, Charisee, was honored during and after worship yesterday. The quilters gifted Charisse with a throw they made, and the congregation awarded her a scholarship. Thank you to the WELCA group for honoring her at a cake and coffee reception following worship. Congratulations, Charisse!
Members of St. Mark’s took part in the mobile pack of Feed My Starving Children in Grand Forks on April 26th. This is a great opportunity for our community to be able to volunteer right here in GF. During our 2 hour shift, 53,784 meals were packed into 249 boxes. This was enough to feed 147 children at least one hot meal a day for a year.
Our Maundy Thursday worship will be April 18th, at 6:45 pm, in our Sanctuary. Worship will include Communion, and Washing of Hands. Please join us.
During the season of Lent, our Wednesday night schedules will be:
6:00 pm – Family Supper – a free-will offering will be taken to benefit Feed My Starving Children.
6:45 pm – Worship in our Chapel
