Our J.O.Y. (Just Older Youth) met in July and were treated to information about a recent Holy Land trip that four of our members were on. Rose Keeley and Sandy Buchmann presented information about their June trip. Sandy McCleary followed the theme with her menu for the luncheon. Lots of Mediterranean dishes and flavors. It was lots of fun! Just included a few of the pictures here.
Our J.O.Y. Group was treated to a delicious lunch and a very informative program at the May 15th meeting. Carrie Knutson with the NDSU Extension Service provided lots of good information about spring lawn care, etc. Great program!! Thanks to our “cook” who prepares our lunch each month – Sandy Mc. J.O.Y. meetings are a great time to share some food and fellowship. Our next meeting will be June 19th. The progam will be on advance care planning.
Eunice and Pete Kuhn, representing AARP, were our speakers for our February J.O.Y. meeting. They presented very interesting and useful information on Fraud Protection. In spite of the wintry weather and slippery streets, we had a nice group to share food and fellowship. J.O.Y. will meet again on March 6th, following our 11:00 Ash Wednesday worship.
Our J.O.Y. (Just Older Youth) braved the cold today and enjoyed lunch together today and heard a great presentation. Rick Frederick, Executive Director of Red Willow Ministries shared lots of information about their camp and their ministry. Very interesting and we thank him for coming such a long way to be with us today.
Our JOY group met yesterday for lunch, fellowship and conversation. Following our luncheon, Deacon Einstein spoke about his home country of Venezuela and about his work with the ELCA. He is leaving us this week and it was nice to get to spend time with him before he leaves. We have enjoyed having him here! Thank you to Sandy McCleary for preparing and serving a delicious ham dinner and all the fixings.
Our member, Sandra Robinson, presented a program about Norman Rockwell at our J.O.Y. luncheon in August. We all enjoyed hearing about this talented man and seeing lots of his artwork. Lots of good food and fellowship with this group!

Our J.O.Y. group meets nearly every month on the third Wednesday. We begin at 11:30 a.m. with a short devotion and then share a wonderful lunch. Interesting programs follow our food and fellowship time.
On April 18th, Dr. Rolf Paulson shared pictures and information with us on his recent trip to Tanzania. While there, he visited with the young lady who our WELCA groups sponsors at the MaeSAE Lutheran School for Girls. It was such a nice way to spend a sunshiny, beautiful midday with our friends here at St. Mark’s.
At St. Mark’s everyone is invited to grow in their faith, connect with others, and serve Jesus. There are a variety of opportunities through which all three of these can be accomplished at St. Mark’s.
Sunday Morning Fellowship takes place after worship service. Adults are invited to grab a cup of coffee or juice and a goodie and hang out in the fellowship hall. This is a great time to meet and connect with others.
The Men’s Group meets monthly for breakfast and conversation and they often take on projects or cook meals at church.
Women of the ELCA is involved in many ministries of the congregation. They host special seasonal activities like the Christmas Tea and Mother, Daughter, Sister, Friend Brunch. The WELCA also oversees Sunday morning coffee fellowship and serving for funerals. They also have monthly circle Bible study groups.
J.O.Y. or Just Older Youth is for anyone who defines themselves as such. This group of primarily retired persons gathers monthly for fellowship and programs. They really enjoy themselves and share the love of God through their joy.
Bible Studies happen throughout the year and tend to cover different books of the Bible or topics. Every study group starts new so Bible study is a good place to get connected.
